A Heartcore workout

the Antidote to... a conventional Pilates class

Founder of Heartcore, Jess Schuring, gained her credentials in Santa Monica the land of the tanned, fit and healthy. She has an impressive celebrity client list under her belt including ‘The Body’ (Elle Macpherson) and has now created Heartcore studios.

Not just another Pilates studio, the “Core Former” beds, designed by Jess, have an extra spring and more varied bar mechanism for a wider range of movement. They also have a platform at the back of the carriage where you learn to “mermaid” (literally posing at the back like a mermaid – with killer muscle aches the next day to prove it). The trainer to have is Robbie, who somehow manages to pay attention to each member of the class, so there really is no use in hiding out at the back.

If you’re looking for a lower-intensity class, barre uses small movements and repetition for optimum toning. The graceful ballet poses help with both balance and posture for a more elegant workout.
