Easing into autumn

A relaxing bath is one of the best ways to ease into the cooler, shorter days of autumn – then, as autumn makes way for winter, you can turn up the hot tap.

Medicinal roots dug up in autumn sustain us nutritionally at this time – echinacea and horseradish keep our blood warm and our immune systems strong – and spices are typical of autumn cooking, so why not mimic this in the bathroom by using ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove oil in the bath? Citrus fruits are also starting to make an appearance and these work just as well in the bath, as does juniper, fir, pine and rosemary.
