the Reads: Mind & Spirit

Go for green

Think of the colour green and what comes to mind? Nature, calm, harmony, new growth… this vibe has extended into the collective conscience, with Greenery the chosen Pantone colour of 2017 –after the turmoil of 2016, it seems appropriate that this fresh and zesty shade represents new shoots and re-invention, a deep breath to reinvigorate ourselves.

Colour consultant Jules Standish has just brought out a book, The Essential Guide to Mindful Dressing…with some interesting ideas. Not entirely sure if there’s scientific evidence to back this all up but it certainly makes perfect sense.Did you know that wearing green can help you make decisions, aide the resolution of issues and help you feel balanced and calm, motivating you to change your life in 2017.

Wearing green clothes suits all skin tones and getting the shade right can make you look younger and healthier in an instant. Taking this idea further, warm skin tones look great wearing green eyeshadow. Who’d a thought it?

Jules explains: “When I wear bright green I look younger than my 53 years, and my skin looks healthy and even. The right green can make women look their best, and can have a positive effect on emotional, physical and psychological levels.”

A mindful approach to life focuses on our surroundings too, so use green tones to brighten up interiors, bringing nature inside: green in a bathroom is calming, in a bedroom will aid sleep, in a sitting room will be harmonious.
